Health Care - Associate of Applied Science

The program prepares students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry-level positions in various health care professions. Concentration and elective courses are drawn from Herzing College health care diploma programs of study in Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting, Medical Billing and Insurance Coding, Medical Office Administration, or Therapeutic Massage. Students must complete all the requirements of one of those programs to fulfill degree requirements.

Upon completion of this program, the student should be able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of human anatomy and physiology; demonstrate the ability to use knowledge of medical terminology in written and oral communication in a professional clinical or medical office setting; communicate professionally with patients, co-workers, and medical providers; demonstrate a knowledge of the effective business practices or office administration techniques used in the offices of care providers; and understand and be able to apply the skills and techniques needed by medical assistants, medical billing and insurance coding specialists, medical office administrators or therapeutic massage practitioners.

Health Care Management - Bachelor of Science

The program prepares students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry-level or management training positions in health care management as well as various other business enterprises, such as business administration and human resources.

Medical Billing and Insurance Coding - Diploma

This program will prepare students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry-level positions in medical insurance coding and office administration within the health care industry. Courses include Medical Terminology, Medical Billing and Insurance Procedures, Medical Office Administration, Law and Ethics, Anatomy and Physiology, Diseases of the Human Body as well as general education, office support and personal development courses. Medical Billing and Coding - Certificate

The objective of the medical billing and coding program is to train students for entry-level employment. Curriculum includes instruction in data collection, diagnostic and procedural coding, insurance claim completion, insurance regulations and more.

Dental Assistant - Certificate

The objective of the Medix School Dental Assistant program is to prepare students with the technical and workplace skills necessary to perform a variety of dental office procedures and laboratory techniques. Upon satisfactory completion of the training, students will be qualified to assume entry-level positions as a dental assistant in dental offices and clinics.

*We are the only school whose program is approved by the state of Georgia to teach Expanded Functions courses. Graduates are eligible to sit for the Certified Dental Assistant exam offered by the Dental Assisting National Board, Inc.

Emergency Medical Technician - Certificate

The Objective of the EMT-Intermediate program is to train students for Certification as a Georgia Emergency Medical Technician. The course is based on the U.S Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines for EMT intermediate course curriculum, including but not limited to: Preparation and Introduction to Emergency Medical Care, Patient Assessment and Basic Life Support, Medical Behavioral emergencies, obstetrics, gynecology, trauma (infants and children) and EMS operations.

Massage Therapy - Certificate

With classroom, lab and clinical instruction, the objectives of the massage therapy program are to equip participants with the necessary entry-level technical, business and professional skills for competency, confidence and achievement in the fields of massage therapy and body work. Students are evaluated in all areas of professional development, including applicable areas of Human Sciences, Massage Techniques, Adjunct Body Work Modalities, Professional Standards and Clinical Practices. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworks.

Medical Assistant - Certificate

The objective of the Medix School Medical Assistant Program is to prepare students with the technical and workplace skills necessary to perform a variety of medical office procedures and laboratory techniques under the direct supervision of a physician. Clinical procedures performed may include injections, EKG's, vital signs, urinalysis, phlebotomy, collecting and performing laboratory tests and assisting in minor surgery. Front office duties may include patient scheduling, insurance claims processing, patient data collection, word processing and transcription.

Graduates are eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant exam sponsored by the American Association of Medical Assistants, as well as the Phlebotomy Certification exam sponsored by the International Academy of Phlebotomy Sciences, Inc.

Medical Office Administration - Certificate

The Objective of the Medical Office Administrative Program is to train students to acquire satisfactory skills and demonstrate competence in a variety of medical/dental office administration procedures and the skills necessary for entry level employment as a medical/dental insurance claims processor. The medical/dental office administration skills include: bookkeeping, billing and collection, records management, patient data collection, typing, transcription, word processing, appointment scheduling, written correspondence and telephone techniques.

Paramedic Training Program - Certificate

The objective of the paramedic training program is to train Emergency Medical Technicians to become Paramedics. The course is based on the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines for Paramedic Course curriculum. A Paramedic student must be a Georgia Certified EMT (Basic) prior to being accepted for Paramedic training.

Patient Care Technician - Certificate

The objective of the Patient Care Technician is to train students to acquire satisfactory skills and demonstrate competence in a variety of hospital-based chronic care patient care procedures and laboratory techniques.
